Detonating Art and Fashion!

Is fashion art?  Is gunpowder art?  Does the fusion of the two make art ? My gunpowder and fuse explosions, much like fashion trends, only last for a moment in time.  Perhaps, detonating art designs speeds the fashion trend and creates a timeless art piece.

Before I retired to pursue art, I owned and managed WinerSilks and part of Venus, two apparel companies. So, I have the background in apparel design and merchandising. But  I always considered my job as a new way of making things. Creating new fabrics or coming up with a new products, going forward, looking for new possibilities are part of the daily routine.  The blend of fashion design and the creation of my artwork is a natural progression.  Or perhaps regression?

Maybe the work would fit in with Calburn Klein?  Neiburn Marcus?  Saks Burn Avenue?

Here are some of the photos of this fashion experiment.   I sketched a figure.  Then painted it with watercolor.  I added the gunpowder around a paper doll cut out dress.  I  exploded it once covered with cardboard and rocks to create a nice blast pattern.  Then blew it up a second time  - open  - to create some shading.

The result  is, shall we say, fashionable?  Boom!
