Vega Readies For Gallery Night At Lauer Group!

I'm getting ready for my exhibition at Lauer Realty Group.  About a dozen gunpowder and fuse painting are framed and prepped for the show.  An opening reception will be on MMOCA gallery night, Friday October 2, 2229 Atwood Ave. Madison, WI.  The exhibition will last 3 months.

So, after a couple of beers, I sat down in my rocker and started questioning myself:

1.  Why do you paint with gunpowder? To relieve stress and blow things up. Hopefully I transform something flat and lifeless into something emotional and cool.

2.  What is this show about?  It's a sampling of my work that shows there are better uses for gunpowder than killing people.  That is what I hope people take away from the show.

3.  What are you going to wear?  My favorite Stick Vega tee shirt and jeans and my fireproof boots.

4. How long have you been an artist?  My first acrylic work was in the early 90's. My first gunpowder work in 2007.

5.  Who are you influences?  Cai Guo-Qiang (gunpowder), Pierre Soulages (powerful black), Keith Haring (characters), and Yves Klein (he painted with a flame thrower a couple of times).

6.  Do you have a favorite work? Right now I'm liking the Lilies.  They are modern and primitive. And the Bachelors have been fun!

7.  Where are you going after the show?  Gallery Marzen, Winnebago Gallery, Yahara Gallery, Fat City Emporium, and as many other places as I can get to...  Then to the Harmony, Gibs and One-Barrel.

8.  Do you always talk to yourself?  Yes. Until Renee tells me to knock it off.

Please come out an enjoy Gallery night. There is great art, cool people and wonderful places to go in the awesome Atwood neighborhood.

BOOM!
